Introducing our outstanding blog-team! The amazingly prolific bloggers listed below are regular volunteer bloggers with Roots & Wings International, without whose dedication the blog would not be possible.


Jazmine Rodriguez - Jazmine is the senior blog manager and has been blogging with RWI since February of 2011. She has a BA in Anthropology and International Development and has extensive experience in non-profit fundraising and communications. Marie LeBlanc – Marie has been blogging with RWI since October of 2011 and works closely with the RWI blogging team to coordinate blog outreach. She spent the past year in London, earning an MSc in International Development Studies, and currently works in the nonprofit sector in Washington, DC. Marie also has BA’s in International Affairs and French/Spanish from the Florida State University, where she spent most of her free time volunteering or studying abroad. Marie has traveled throughout Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina, but is most passionate about indigenous communities in Central America.


Danica Buckland – Danica is a recent Master of Global Public Health graduate from Simon Fraser University in Canada. For her MPH practicum project she was privileged to lead a Participatory Rural Appraisal of health needs in Chocruz, Guatemala. As a public health practitioner she is committed to reducing inequities in health by creating dynamic and supportive partnerships that promote holistic well-being for all people, without discrimination, through empowering and responsive action. She is currently working as a public health research analyst and is involvedwith several non-profit organizations both locally and globally.


Anabel Merchan – Anabel Merchan blogs for both of RWI’s English and Spanish blogs and translates English language posts for our Spanish speaking followers. Anabel studied Translation Studies at the Universidad de Málaga and the HU Berlin, in Spain and Germany. She works as a translator, proofreader and technical writer, but her passion is teaching. In the past eight years Anabel has been involved with several non profits in Europe and the U.S., volunteering as a teacher of literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).


Kristin Keller - Kristen has been blogging with RWI since February of 2011. She lives in Spokane, Washington and teaches at the university level. She studied literature at Gonzaga University, taught language courses in Guatemala, and returned for another round, finishing her master’s and teaching composition at Washington State University.


Patrick McGrady - Patrick has been blogging with RWI since April of 2011. He is an English teacher in Honduras and has visited Guatemala multiple times. Patrick graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA in Philosophy and a minor in Latin American Studies. He studied for a semester in 2008 at Centro de Investigaciones Regionales de Mesoamérica (C.I.R.M.A.) in Antigua, Guatemala.
