Well, I’ve only contributed one posting so far as Marketing Director of RWI. So I figured I should share my current adventure in attempting to learn a programming language. Just like our RWI scholars and students, I’m an eager learner.
I’m taking an online Javascript class this semester at a local community college. The class started well for me. I usually spend a weekend reading and working on my weekly assignments. The most recent homework assignment, however, took four full days to finish. It was just so difficult that I almost gave up.
My hubby was encouraging. He knew the solution and guided me along patiently. Well, at times he was irritated because I was too slow in understanding and thinking abstractly. He wrote half of the code, but I think that’s fine. I delivered a good working product before the deadline and that’s what matters. I learned so much from my tutor.
With persistence, I know I will do well in Javascript programming–eventually! But yes, it’s hard to train a marketing person to do programming cos most of the time, we don’t get it, haha!
