Good Search: Making a Difference is Easy

In this economy, many people are hurting for money. The last thing on the mind of a person who can barely foot a mortgage payment is “how much money can I give to charity this month?” That’s understandable. I have friends in at least three different states who are struggling to find work in their desired fields. It would be heartless of me to ask them to give to a non-profit organization when their unemployment checks barely cover rent.

Luckily, there’s a new way to give to non-profit organizations without having to drop a dime of your own money. The folks at GoodSearch have created an ingenious way for you to support the causes you’re passionate about, using an internet service you use at least a dozen times a day: a search engine. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to GoodSearch.
  2. Under “Who do you search for?” type “Roots and Wings International.” You’ll know you found us if the drop-down box reads “Roots and Wings International (Spokane, WA).”
  3. Now, you have some options. If you use Internet Explorer or Firefox, you can install a toolbar or add GoodSearch to your search box (which sits to the right of your address bar). Get instructions for that here.
  4. You can also set GoodSearch as your homepage. Get instructions for that here.

Once that’s set up, all you have to do is surf the web as normal, searching for anything you need. GoodSearch is powered by Yahoo Search, so it’s not as robust as Google. However, the test searches I’ve done so far have been very successful. Roots and Wings International earns $.01 for every search conducted using this method. That may seem like small potatoes, but, if you spread the word to enough people, we may have enough money to sponsor another student!

The best part is the level of commitment involved. Never has it been so easy to make a difference. With every click, you’ll be bringing the children we serve one step closer to a quality education. Please spread the word.
