At RWI, our U.S. office is fully staffed by volunteers. Our volunteers come from all over the U.S. and abroad. We have two volunteers based overseas, one who is teaching English in rural parts of South Korea and another based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
At Roots & Wings, we have been very lucky to get excellent volunteers. They mainly come through VolunteerMatch.org (check out our volunteer openings). Most of our volunteers are very independent and passionate about our cause. They often initiate projects and take them on with gusto. I think one of our greatest strengths is that we allow a volunteer to take as much initiative as they want, and provide them with the freedom and support to experiment with new ways of doing things. This helps our volunteers to acquire new skills which they can showcase to their (new) employers or clients.
